Amethyst – February Birthstone

2 February 2019

FEBRUARY BIRTHSTONE: AMETHYST

Amethyst, the birthstone of February, is a variety of Quartz that carries a spectacular purple color that ranges from a blend of deep violet and red to a lighter lilac hue. Ancient Greeks believed that the stone protected the wearer from drunkenness and enabled them to keep a balanced mindset.

A fine example of suffragette jewellery to celebrate the centenary of women gaining the vote.

A heart shaped pendant with the legend Rosemary for Remembrance interspersed with natural pearls framing a carved amethyst base  surmounted by a green glass lozenge supporting a diamond forget-me-not flower. The colours green, white and violet symbolise Give Women the Vote. Original fitted box stamped Goldsmiths & Silversmiths (later Garrards) of Regent Street, by appointment to the King.

A perfect present for Valentine’s day. Price on application
